We have been
monitoring the grass and tree planting done in the past
years. During an release inspection this spring we
discussed work needed to complete reclamation with Mr.
Oehler and Mr. Keffelew. Their opinion was that in most
cases we were OK but some of the seeded areas needed
additional planting. We had elected to hold off on this
until fall when more moisture is available. However, the
dewatering at the LaFarge mine southeast of the site has
lowered the ground water level to a point that we have lost
most of the trees and grass planted around the site.
(3) Mining is complete.
(4) We are in a monitoring mode on the areas currently
reclaimed. The areas colored green are doing well. The
yellow colored areas where the success was marginal have not
changed, though the drought in 2003 and the dewatering at
LaFarge's mine has not helped. We are reviewing our options
on this area and will evaluated what needs to be done this
fall.
(5) The current contact for this pit is:
Mr. Albert R.
