• summary information for water levels at Wells 008-AV-1 and 008-AV-2. Table 1 I B provides period of record
statistical summary information for water levels at surface water monitoring site 304.
Water quality -Water quality data for [he Foidel Creek Alluvium wells is presented on Tables 4, 4A, 5, and SA.
Water quality data for Foidel Creek Site 304 monitored in association with the alluvial wells is presented on
Tables 1 I and 11 A. Only water level information waz recorded during 1996 for site 304. Plots of historic field
conductivities for both wells and dissolved solids for well 008-AV-2 are presented az Figures 9, 10, and 11.
Water quality constituent concentrations for most parameters monitored during 1996 were within the established
ranges historically associated with each site. in October well 008-AV-2 exhibited a new maximum recorded
field conductivity value (see Table 5). Subsequent measurements were comparable to values recorded during the
1995 Water Year. TDS values varied with November and March measurements appearing to continue the
previously noted elevating trend noted at this site and May and August measurements comparable to 1995 levels.
The total dissolved solids concentration in the Foidel Creek alluvial aquifer as meazured at well 008-AV-2 had
appeared to be steadily increasing since approximately 1988 (see Figure I1). CYCC will continue to monitor
the direction of this trend. Seasonal variations in field conductivity aze evident in the alluvial wells. This is
likely associated with the flushing effect of the relatively low dissolved solids surface water recharging the
alluvial aquifer during spring runoff.
• The 1996 data does not indicate any significant changes in trace metals wncentrations although iron and
manganese values remain variable. Manganese concentrations during 1996 in well 008-AV-2 were generally
lower than those recorded in 1995 while iron concentrations were noted to be higher. Manganese and iron
concentrations documented during 1996 maintained levels within the historical ranges established at this site.
Spoils
Two wells in the backfilled area of Mine 3 (008-SP-4A and 008-SP-SA) were installed in 1985 to monitor water
levels and water quality in mine spoils (see Figure 2). One well, 008-SP-4A, remained dry since it waz
installed. During 1992, the well was determined [o have a separated casing. As a result, CYCC installed a
replacement spoil monitoring well (008-SP-4B) near the northern embankment of Pond M35 (Site 76). Due to
the [iating of this installation, CYCC did not provide initial monitoring information far the replacement well until
the 1993 AHR submittal.
Water Levels -Plots of historic water levels in the hvo currently monitored Mine 3 spoil wells are presented az
Figures 12 and l3 in this report. 1996 water levels were meazured at depths typical for these sites. Tables 8B
and 9B provide period of record statistical summary information for water levels at wells 008-SP-4B and 008-
SP-SA.
•
-4-
