An additional 200,000 ounces of gold, or more, was produced from the Boulder County
mine. The project area has been designated a historic mining district preserving the right to mine.
Between 1977 and 1985, small scale exploration and development mining in the Cross mine
produced 5,000 ounces of gold, 225,000 ounces of silver, and several hundred thousands pounds
of lead, zinc and copper. During the same period, 200,000 ounces of silver was produced from
the Caribou mine.
Mining in the district reached a maximum depth of 1,200 feet on the No Name vein in the
Caribou Mine. The No Name vein which was mined for a maximum strike length of 670 feet has
been recently traced for a strike length of more then 3,000 feet and is only one of several targets
for large new resources.
ologjcal Settie¢
The project is situated in the northeast trending Colorado Mineral Belt which include;; all of the
major mining districts except the uranium districts of southwestern Colorado and a few mining
districts associated with isolated volcanic centers. In the project area metamorphic rocks of
Precambrian age aze intruded by Tertiary rocks, predominately monzonite in character. Gold and
silver rich vein structures occur in both rock types (see attached Geology map).
A system of northeast striking veins which cut east-west striking veins has been the source of
past gold and silver production on the project. Of greatest length are the northeast trending veins
which parallel the.Colorado Mineral Belt and follow an ancient zone of structural weirlaress. The
northeast striking No Name vein and the recently discovered Canbou Pazk breccia zone are
mineralized sheaz components of the Colorado Mineral belt with strike slip movement. Both the
No Name and Caribou Pazk zone were probably conduits for fluids which mineralized numerous
east-west striking veins and the Pegmatite Reef zone (see attached Veins map).
In the vein systems, late phase gold mineralization over prints earlier mesothermal silver, lead,
zinc, and copper mineralization. A deep-test core hole documents strong gold mineralization
persisting 2,000 feet below the surface.
2.
