December 1991 7Tie Rorkrastle Company " Grasry Gap Mine " 1992 Annual Hydrology Report • 4
state limitation of 7.0 mg/l. Copies of laboratory analyses for monitoring of surface water
discharge points are included in Appendix A.
No discharge was observed from any of the other discharge points from April 30 to October
21, 1992. Standing water was noted in Pond 4 during each month monitored but no water was
observed in Ponds Z and 3 in April through August. No indication of oil or greaze in any of
the ponds was noted during any of the monitoring visits. Access to the property was not
' possible during November or December, 1992 due to snow accumulations and poor road
conditions.
' All culverts and ditches were inspected during June. The inspection was conducted for
structural integrity, proper functioning and potential for future problems to develop. Problems
were noted along the Pit 4 access road below and above Pond 4 az well az just south of the Pond
5/6 embankment. These were noted to Rockcastle and repair w incorporated into the summer
reclamation efforts. Copies of the Annual Hydrology Report
' 1989 as well az the 1991 field and laboratory data for the NPDES discharge points have been
included for reference in Appendix B.
2.2 OMLR MONITORING
Sampling and field measurements were conduced according the requirements specified in the
Mining and Reclamation Permit as described in Table 1 previously presented.
The field parameters measured included temperature, conduttiviry, pH, and flow rate or water
level as appropriate. Flow measurements were estimated using a container of known volume
if appropriate or calculated based on the discharge dimensions and velocity. Measurements were
taken during the months of June and October at SW-4, the furthest downstream effluent
monitoring point. SW-4 is located at the culvert beneath the Pit 4 access road and was observed
to be flowing during each field investigation. SW-2, located along the main access road north
of Pit 4, was flowing each month of the year monitored. SW-3, located along the access road
' to Pits 2 and 3 was flowing in June due to discharge from Spring 5 upgradient along the road
to Pit 2, but not in October. The field measurements are presented in Table 3, Field
Monitoring Results.
' Water level measurements were made in MW-3 in April, June, and October. The well is loated
near the intersection of the main access road and the Pit 4 access road. A measurable water level
of 10.9 feet during April was noted in the Pi[ 2 spoil well but no water was encountered in June
' or October. No water was measurable in the Pit 5 spoil monitor well during April, June or
October.
., 7
~~ ,, ,t ,~ ,, p.+s ,
vn.~Ntrrnavr ACZ Inc. "P.O.
