This was
due to the completion of the new sand processing plant. Material extraction was
slightly less than that of last year. Most of the mining was concentrated in phase 4E,
although some was done in phase 3E.
Annual Report Maps: This year's annual report will consist of two maps, east and
west.
Affected Lands: The amount of affected land has not changed. No new land has
been disturbed. Schlage Lock is continuing their remediation program. New wells
were added to the southern portions of phase 3E and phase 4E. In the summer a
wild fire swept across the land north of the Fountain Mutual Ditch. The fire burned
80 acres, 35 of which were in phase 1E North and 5E. The fire burned land north
up to Drennan Road and east to Hancock Expressway. New vegetation grew back
amazingly fast making it difficult to see any evidence of a fire.
Reclamation: A drip line will be installed in 2003 next to the line of trees in the
southern portion of phase 3E. The topsoil stockpiles of 2001 are now anchored with
vegetation. Portions of phase 6E, 2E, and lE south have revegetated quite nicely.
Beyond this no new reclamation was done in the last year as pit edge zones are still
involved in some stage of active mining.
Expected Activity (2003): Mining will (mainly) continue to push further east into
phase 4E.
Bonding: This operation is covered by a corporate bond.
