Additional Page
2001-2002 Annual Report
Snyder (quarry
M-77-210
Castle Concrete Company
Anniversary Date: May 27
Overview of Permit Year: During the 2001-2002 operating year activity increased. Rock extraction
increased due to the strengthening market.
Annual Report Maps: The attached map shows the primary areas of disturbance and the type of
disturbance occurring in each area. This is virtually identical to last year.
Affected Lands: The amount of affected land has not increased primarily due to the activity being
confined to previously disturbed land. The large, central waste pile has been further reduced.
Backfilling continues; last year approximately 50 feet of material was placed into the excavated area at
the back of the quarry. Minor excavation work occurred south and west of the scale. Mining activity
occurred east of the "West Ridge." Reclamation and reshaping was done on the north end of the mine.
More reclamation work is expected near the mine over the next year.
Revegetation: The site is stable and is not subject to erosion. A weed control plan is being designed
and will soon be implemented. No major revegetation occurred. Minor enhanced reclamation (tree
planting) was done along east side of the haul road. The existing trees along the road corridor have
done moderately well.
Road Corridor: Routine grading and shaping of the road corridor occurred. The electric power poles
along the road were moved to the east side for safety reasons.
Expected Activity (2002 - 2003): Production will most likely continue next year. Quantity depends
on the market situation.
Bonding: This operation is covered by a corporate bond.
Castle Concrete 2002 Annual Report M-77-210 Snyder Quarry Page 1 of 1
