This letter also serves as a follow-up to
January 21 and 24 messages recorded on your voice-mail.
During the week, the active pond averaged 0.94 ppm CN-wad
and 1.32 ppm CN-total. The collection pond averaged 0.36 ppm
CN-wad and 0.56 ppm CN-total. The weekly sample of the
inactive pond, collected on January 19, showed 0.16 Fpm
CN-wad and 0.16 ppm CN-total.
As per my voice-mail message of January 21, the active pond
(lower pond) sample for January 20 showed cyanide
concentrations of 4.12 ppm CN-wad and 4.69 ppm CN-total.
Also, as per my voice-mail message of January 24, the active
pond sample for Janaury 21 showed a slightly high CN-total
value of 4.54 ppm with a 3.55 ppm CN-wad value. SamFles
collected on January 22 showed concentrations of 3.32 ppm
CN-wad and 3.93 ppm CN-total. As specified in TR-O1C,
the DMG was immediately notified of the cyanide levels. The
January 16-22 weekly average and the January simple ironthly
average for pond compliance will not be significantly
influenced by this anomaly. We will continue to closely
monitor the situation and will inform the Division of any
changes.
If you have any questions, please call.
Sincerely,
f'~'w-,o~ S~}-
Alana L.
