EON COAL and MINERALS COMPANY
POST OFFICE BOX 1714 • HOUSTON, TEXAS 77251-1314
TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT
October 25, 1994
Re: Section 112 Annual Report
and Payment of Fee
Permit No. M-80-047
Colony Shale Oil Project
Garfield County
Division of Minerals and Geology
Colorado Department of Natural Resources
1313 North Sherman, Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Gentlemen:
Enclosed are the 112 Annual Fee payment and the Annual Repoli for the above referenced
permit.
The following is a clarification with regard to Item 8 in this years annual Report and the
reclamation plan in general. In 1995 Exxon plans to begin dismantling the retort structure in
the Tosco retort compound. The area in question is located immediately below the mine
bench, and is comprised of approximately 3.8 acres within "Area 5" of the 1982 Site
Disturbance Inventory, which is on file with your office. While this site was originally disturbed
in 1965 to construct the semi-commercial scale demonstration plant, pre-dating the MLR Act,
the area is considered to be "affected acreage" for the purposes of the present mining permit.
In any case, we do not expect the total affected acreage (1130 acres) to change as a result of
this activity.
If you have any questions regarding this, please do not hesitate to contact me at
(713) 978-5657.
Sincerely,
James F. Moore, P.E.
Senior Staff Engineer
A DIVISION OF E%XON CORPORATION n(p
aee.aeo
