Mosch
Permit No. M-82-075
Operation Name: Phoenix Mine
Last year the Clear Creek County Road and Bridges department moved the existing
county road (County Road 136--Trail Creek road) which passes through the center
of the Phoenix mine permit area in order to remove a dangerous blind curve around
the Phoenix ore bin. They widened the road substantially, moved it to the south-
east side of the ore bin, partially removed and relocated a portion of the pre-
existing Phoenix dump, and moved the Trail Creek stream bed to a new location.
Trail Creek now flows under the previous road location through approximately 200
feet of culvert installed by the County.
We have planted grasses, evergreen trees, raspberries, and other native plants on
the road cut slopes left by the County, and along the new creek banks. These
revegitated areas cover ~3pproximately 2,000 square feet (approximate location
shown on the attached map). Other areas along the road left disturbed by the road
construction are being filled with crushed rock from a cross-cut being driven in
the Phoenix, and will be leveled for additional parking for the Tourist portion
of the mine which went into operation this spring. Other waste rock is still being
used to fill in open sto~>es in the underground workings of the old Phoenix mine.
Operations are expected to continue on the same basis during the coming year.
Other affected areas (raids, parking, equipment storage areas) have not been
reclaimed as they are still in use by the current mining and tourist activity.
P0. e .Mn ~-~-.
Patricia C.
