Prior to 1991, the operator
monitored water quality, and flow or water level at sites H-1 (surface), H-10
and 8-6 (ground) in full compliance with the moni*.oring program. The operator
wili continue to mcnitrr these sites.
Cue to planned mining in the Sanborn Creek permit area, the operator began
monitroing drill holes SC-I, SC-? and SC-3 (Groundwater in Rawlins Sandstone
and U.S. Steel Mine No. 3) and U-l, S-I, S-2, NF-I and NF-2 (Surface water in
unnamed drainage, Sanborn Creek, and the North Fork of Gunnision River)
During 1992, there was no recorded discharge at NPDES outfall 011 in the
Sanborn Creek permit area.
The following comments pertain to the Monitoring Plan
1. Should discharge form NPDES outfalls occur in the inactive Somerset
Mine permit area, the Division may want to request monitoring commence at a
site downstream of the confluence of Hubbard Creek and North Fork of Gunnison
River (NFGR). Currently, NF-2 is the fur~hest downstream site on NFGR
monitored by the operator and is upstream from the Somerset Mine permit
boundary (See Hydrologic Area Map E8-32861.
