• Cover Crop
All topsoil stockpiles have been planted with the approved cover crop seed mixture. The
topsoil windrows north of BB Road and west of 27.00 Road are temporary in nature (<90
days) and so will not be seeded with a cover crop.
Revegetated Land Fertilizer Rates and Pasture Yields
Fertilizer was applied once ortwice a year. The first application was during the spring and
the second (if needed) was afterthe first cutting. Application rates varied from none to 250
Ibs/acre (Exhibit 2003-9). First cut yields varied from 1,110 Ib/acre to 7,477 Ib/acre
(Exhibit 2003-11), depending on the amount of fertilizer used and whether or not the land
was irrigated.
Weed and Pest Control Activities
Weed control was carried out in the fall months of 2003. Target species included Russian
Knapweed, Canada Thistle, Sun Flower, White Top, and Field Bindweed. Spot spraying
was done at NH2, see Exhibit 2003-5. The treated sites were small and random and are
too small to accurately plot on a map, although the general area is depicted.
• Acres in Long-Term Mining or Reclamation Facilities
As shown in Exhibit 2003-12, currently 44.76 acres are held in long-term mining or
reclamation facilities.
Acres in Active Mining Areas
As Exhibit 2003-12 indicates, the 2003 active mine area disturbance was 99.27 acres.
Acres Seeded/Planted for the Last 10 Years or more
The total number of acres seeded or planted and not released from bond within the NH1
and NH2 permit areas is 297.75.
i
(F:\engldata\word\ann reclaim rpt\2003recrepo.doc)
