My comments aze
organized based on the presentation in Exhibit 19.
The data collected indicate no impact to Rapid Creek or its tributaries. Pillars protect the
channels of the creeks as well as the azea underlying Cabin Reservoir within a 12-degree angle
of draw. Monitoring of ephemeral channels indicates flow only in response to storm runoff.
2. The 2006 data indicates .09% increase in TDS in the Colorado River due to mine water
discharge, which is slightly less than the .1 % predicted.
There were no sediment pond discharges recorded or sampled.
4. Percolation through the refuse pile from meteoric water is not detected as predicted, and is
likely insignificant, as the refuse piles are now covered with soil and vegetation, with the
exception of an azea left open on CRDA- l .
These data, as presented in the 2006 AHR, show the approved probable hydrologic consequences aze
reasonable and impacts from the mine are within the constraints of these predictions.
If you have questions or comments, please let me know.
Office of Office of
Mined land Reclamation Denver Grand Junction Durango Active and Inactive Mines
