The requirement
is as follows:
"The building and site were measured, surveyed and photographed in early
November 1994, prior to possible subsidence impacts. Subsequent surveys and
photographic records were begun in early December 1994, and were continued
approximately weekly until January 1995, then bi-monthly through March 1995,
when mining of the panel will be complete. Regular monitoring (weekly, then bi-
monthly, as above) will again be conducted when the 6NW longwall panel is
mined past this area."
You should check the most current page to ensure that this requirement has not changed.
We may want to clarify that monitoring should continue until subsidence is complete, not just until
mining has passed the cabin area.
Also, the Mountain Coal Company letter of December 14, 1994 (TR-74 file), last paragraph,
states: "Subsidence monitoring and survey results, including the impacts, if any, to the building
will be presented in MCC's annual subsidence report." It appears that MCC should be reminded
of this commitment.
You should make general mention of the commitment in your letter. I will also send a specific
letter to MCC requesting a detailed report which includes all survey information, damage
descriptions, mining sequence information, and a summary regarding the mining and possible
impacts to the Mautz cabin.
DAB/bjw
1anv\007.DAB
