Annual Hydrology Report
April 28, 1988
Page 3

1
station (approximately 1/4 mile upstream of the mine site) is contained in
Appendix .1.
Monthly measurement of field water quality was conducted at the gaging stations
located on Horse Creek, South Prong, Lick Creek, Upper Dry Fork, Lower Dry Fork,
Sylvester Gulch and Minnesota Creek above Dry Fork.
Quarterly water quality samples are obtained for laboratory analysis from three
locations: the North Ebrk above Sylvester Gulch, the North Ebrk below the
Mineand Sylvester Gulch. Sampling locations are shown on Exhibit I. Water
quality data previously collected by the U.S.G.S. at their North Fork gaging
station near Somerset was discontinued in September, 1982.
1.2 Spring Water Monitoring
Springs included in the hydrology monitoring program for water year 1987 are
shown in Table 1.2-1 along with monitoring and sampling frequency. Monitored
springs locations are shown on Fychibit I. A11 known springs in the leases area
are shown on Exhibit 2.8.1.B. (1"'=2000') which is contained in Volume 3 of the
M and R Plan. In accordance with U.S. Forest Service stipulations a map of U.S.
Forest Service water resources has been included as b[hibit III. Some of the
U.S.F.S. water resources aze springs. No changes in the U.S.F.S. Water
Resources Map is necessary for 1988 as no new rights were filed for or new uses
made in 1988 in the lease area.
Spring monitoring data including flow, water quality analysis, and other
pertinent information is contained in the Quarterly Hydrology Monitoring
Reports.
Bar graphs depicting spring flows from 1979 to present have been included for
the 1987 Annual Hydrology Report and are contained in Appendix D.
Springs were monitored when accessible and the records for the most part are
good. In early spring of 1986 G-25, G-26a, and G-31 were made inaccessible by
landslides in Lone Pine Gulch and on the road to the springs.
1.3 Ground Water Monitorin
_.. During Water Year 1987 water levels were monitored monthly at 31 wells when
weather permitted. The location of these wells are shown on Exhibit I.
Wells included in the hydrology monitoring program for water year 1987 are shown
in Table 1.2-2 along with monitoring frequency, type, and sampling.
Groundwater well monitoring data such as water level (if present), quality,
dates, and other pertinent information is contained in the Quarterly Hydrology
Nbnitoring Reports. Well hydrographs for the 1987 water monitoring quarters are
also contained in the quarterly hydrology reports. These hydrographs are
cumulative for the year.
Monthly water level and sampling records for water year 1987 were near oort~plete
for most locations. Figure 1.3-1 lists wells with an inoort4olete record and the
reason for the incomplete record. Records for all other locations are complete.
