COLOWYO 2002 ANNUr\L RECI,~1'vIATI0N RL'VOR'r RIiVIGW, C-1981-019
planted varies slightly from the approved PLS/Square foot rate. This variance is small and is likely due to the
species substitutions. The pounds of PLS seed applied to the EP043 2002 reclaimed azea exceeded the
pounds PLS required in the approved seed mix. This vaziance is acceptable.
In 2002 Colowyo re-seeded and area that had originally been seeded in 2001. This area, EP037, is referred to
as the "2001 re-do" area and will be counted as areas seeded in 2002. Species substitutions were made to the
seed mix for the 2001 re-do azea as well, due to species availability limitations. Substitute species were
chosen from Table 2.05-7 or 2.05-8 and were acceptable. Overall seeding rates were approximately twice the
approved drill seeding rate. Broadcast seeding rates should be double that of drill seeding. This application
rate is appropriate.
Future reclamation reports should include legible seed tags, and report on quantity of seed used per area. The
approved seed mixes used by Colowyo provides a diverse mix of species appropriate to the area and that
supports the post mining land use.
