r i <br />EAST RIGDEN <br />Annual Monitoring Report <br />August 13, 1986 to August 12, 1987 <br />This is the eighth annual monitoring report for the East Rigden <br />Pit which is operated by Flatiron Materials Company, P.O. Box 229, <br />Boulder, CO 80306. It covers the period of August 13, 1986 to <br />August 12, 1987. <br />The following questions and answers are submitted to meet the <br />requirements for annual reports to the Mined Land Reclamation <br />Board. <br />1. What are the locations and numbers of acres affected during <br />the past year? <br />Approximately 11 acres were excavated around part of the new <br />mining perimeter, and about 9 acres were stripped in preparation <br />for excavation during the next reporting period. (See map.) <br />2. What are the locations and numbers of acres reclaimed this <br />year? <br />Most areas are in various stages of reclamation and are not <br />yet fully reclaimed. See Number 3. below. <br />3. What are the locations and numbers of acres in various stages <br />of reclamation? <br />Approximately 3 acres in the southern portion of the pit were <br />backfilled and topsoiled during this reporting period. Another <br />1.5 acres is being backfilled and topsoiled at the present <br />time in preparation for seeding. (See map.) <br />4. What are the species of vegetation that have been planted? <br />What are the locations and approximate dates of planting? <br />No planting was done during this reporting period. <br />5. What are the types, quantities and locations of fertilizers <br />used? <br />No fertilizer was used during this reporting period. <br />6. What is the company's appraisal of reclamation efforts? <br />Reclamation is progressing satisfactorily. <br />7. What are the locations and numbers of acres to be affected <br />during the next reporting year? <br />The 9 acres already stripped will be excavated during the next <br />reporting year. Backfilling and topsoiling will be concurrent. <br />Also, about 15 additional acres will be stripped and excavated <br />in the southern most portion of the pit. (See map.) <br />
