015). Monitoring of this site commenced in September 1990, The peak
flow this year was the lowest observed since 1999. This site displays
an increasing TDS trend.
The Seneca II-W PHC (revised 3/Ol) predicts an irrigation season average
TDS value of 641 mg/1 on Sage Creek, while a value of 690 mg/1 was
observed. The 690 mg/1 value observed this year in only BR greater than
the predicted value. However, the maximum TDS value observed during the
same time frame at NPDES 015 was only 530 mg/1 and NPDES 009 did not
discharge this year. The lower than average precipitation observed this
year may have also affected TDS values. ~ ~-
Springs. Spring data may be found after surface water data in Appendix
E. Data provided are a water quality report for the past two years,
historic flow measurements, baseline water quality statistics for
springs downstream of minin g (when available), a LOWESS plot of
electrical conductivities (EC, corrected to
25° C, since 10/1/89), and a
. hi
i
tin
t
li
f e
t ,
illie
ui
nt
f ma
l
i
d TDS
or
c
s
g o
s rcen
p q
e
jor
ons -an
m
va
s o
.
Springs with a flow less than 5 gpm (0.011 cfs) are analyzed for field
parameters only. In Appendix E, all native springs have a WSPG prefix
(e.g., Sprinq 5-95 = WSPG45) while all spoil springs have a WSSPG
prefix.
Spring S-1 is located in an ephemeral stream channel that is the
northern tributary to Sage Creek. Further downstream in this drainage
is the 009 Pond that was constructed in October 1991. The EC plot
indicates a recently decreasing trend.
Spring 5-23 is located at the headwaters of the 006 Gulch, in an
ephemeral stream channel. This spring is upstream of proposed mining
and should not be affected by mining. The EC plot indicated an
increasing trend.
Spring 5-41 is located downstream of Spring 5-23 in the 006 Gulch stream
channel. It is located just downstream of the silted-in Temple Pond }{2,
This spring was buried in spoils in 1998.
17
