The following <br />discussion of water quality will limit itself to a description of TDS <br />trends. A separate section, Comparison of Surface Water Quality to <br />Water Use Standards, will list those samples that exceed water use <br />standards. Lab samples aze handled in a matter identical to what was <br />discussed earlier in the ground water section. For the sake of brevity, <br />the prefix that precedes all surface water site names will often be <br />dropped throughout this report. As an example, Site SW-S2W-.SG7 (WSH7) <br />will be referred to as Site 7. , „ <br />I• <br />Hubberson Gulch / Dry Creek <br />- Surface Water Site SW-S2W-SG9 (WSH9). This Hubberson. Gulch site is <br />upstream of mine related discharges in the II-W South Expansion area. <br />Monitoring at this site began in August 1997. No monitoring was <br />performed in the 1999 calendar year, but was resumed in 2000. This site <br />is monitored in June and September. , <br />- Surface Water Site SW-S2W-SG17 (WSH17). This Hubberson Gulch site <br />exists at the site of the proposed NPDES 017 Pond in the-II-W South <br />Expansion area. Monitoring at this site began in August 1997. No <br />monitoring was performed in the 1999 calendar year, but was resumed in <br />2000. This site is monitored from June through September. <br />- NPDES 016 (NPDESI6). This site exists on a Hubberson Gulch tributary <br />in the II-W South area. Pond 016 was nearly complete in September 2000, <br />and first discharged in April 2001. It is monitored weekly except when <br />inaccessible by truck. The average flow this yeas was 0.019 cfs. <br />Baseline data from Site SW-52W-SG16 (WSH16) has been provided. The last <br />sample from WSH16 was taken in September 2000. <br />- Surface Water Site SW-S2W-SG7 (WSH7). This site is located on <br />Hubberson Gulch upstream of the confluence of mine discharges contained <br />in the 006 Gulch, but is downstream of Pond 016. Monitoring here began <br />13 <br />
