Therefore, we commit to installing
two additional monuments as outlined on the enclosed map.
The purpose of the amended monitoring program is to verify Bear
Coal Company's prediction that subsidence will not result in
landslide activity. In order to accomplish this, we will install
two additional monuments prior to development mining underneath
these monuments. Furthermore, the Company understands that the
monuments will need to be surveyed after installation and semi-
annually thereafter until subsidence is demonstrated to have
ceased.
We anticipate development mining under the proposed monuments
will occur sometime in the first quarter of 1986 with retreat
mining under the monuments occurring sometime in the second
quarter of 1986. However, it should be noted that these are
estimates based on current marketing and circumstances beyond our
control could alter these dates.
If you should require additional information, please feel free to
contact this office.
Sincerely,
B~COAL COMPAN~.
~".'
William A.
