• relatively high values of manganese observed at TR-C (0.13 mg/1) and TR-D
(0.16 mg/1) during May of 1988 did not appear to be related to mining activity
as an elevated concentration was not observed at TR-B (0.04 mg/1) which was
immediately downstream of the active mining area. Manganese values from 1993
tthrough 1995 appear to be directly related to flow within Trout Creek as are
the TDS concentrations.
Aluminum/Unionized Ammonia/Nitrite/Orthophosphate
Aluminum (Figure 14), unionized ammonia (Figure 15), nitrite (Figure 16)
and orthophosphate (Figure 17) were added to the monitoring program in 1988.
All values obtained for these parameters have been low with most being below
detection limits (Appendix A). The apparent elevated aluminum level shown in
May 1995, was due to the laboratory lower detection limit being set at 0.2 ppm
instead of 0.05 ppm.
Orthophosphate showed some perturbation during the 1990 sampling period.
However, concentrations since then have been consistent with pre-1990 levels.
• Chloride/Potassium/Iron
Chloride and potassium (Figure 18) were added to the monitoring program
in 1993 while iron (Figure 19) was added in 1994. The concentrations of all
of these parameters in Trout Creek water are generally low.
•
21
