Mathews
Division of Minerals and Geology
2148 Broadway, #CS
Grand Junction, CO 81503
Re: Well Abandonment Report
Permit No. C-81-034
Dear Mr. Mathews:

~3 %~h,

Enclosed is a piezometer abandonment report for all of the wells at the Red Canyon Mine except A- 1,
A-2, E-l, R-3 and S-l. Water samples were collected from A-I, A-2, E-1 and R-3 on July 25, 1998
and delivered to Grand Junction labs for analysis. These wells will remain open until reclamation is
approved by the DMG. Well S-1 must have been destroyed and covered by some construction
activity since it could not be located. This well was developed in a shallow formation and it did not
intercept any water. Leaving this well without any further sealing will not present a significant
potential for ground water contamination.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
~~~
' J.
