A few things were accomplished that have been <br />long coming, such as the reduction of what we call the "White Elephant." This <br />"stockpile" was accidentally put in the lower end of the pit and consists of caliche, <br />"capstone" and bentonite, not up to our standards. We have been slowly finding <br />uses for it and the pile has finally almost disappeared. <br />One very fine use was to repair 2 of the 3 dams that washed away in big cloud burst of <br />1998. This area is now all repaved. <br />Our reclaimed areas are doing well with alot of the native grasses now taking a strong <br />hold.
