Cattany
Acting Division Director
RE: 2001 Annual Reclamation Report, Raton Creek Mine, Permit No. C-82-055
Mr. Patterson:
The Division of Minerals and Geology has completed review of the 2001 Annual
Reclamation Report (ARR) for the Raton Creek Mine.
The report includes the information required by Rule 2.04.13. The Division has two
questions or comments after our review.
1. The report text indicates 26 acres previously reclaimed (reseeded). The Division
digitized 25.1 reseeded acres from the map included with the report. The 2001
ARR form included with the report indicates 35 acres. Please correct the form to
indicate the proper number of total reseeded acres on future reports.
2. Under the heading Previously Revegetated Areas, the report text discusses
"limited reseeding". The map included with the report uses acolor-coded
legend to identify the year of "seeding or reseeding". The Division recommends
the use of the term "interseeding" on both the map and in the report text in future
reporting to avoid any conflict with Rule 4.15.7(5) concerning restarting the bond
liability period.
The Division has no further questions regarding the report. Thank you for your
diligence in completing your monitoring and reporting requirements.
If you have any questions, please call me.
Sinc ely,
~~Ii!G~
Kent Gorham
Environmental Protection Specialist II
CC: Dan Hernandez
