The mine staff have decided to leave
the design storm volume available for storm inflow. She indicated
that excess mine inflow water will be discharged to the North Fork
of the Gunnison River.
- MCC anticipates exceeding available storage volume, and will need
to discharge mine inflow water offsite within about 2 hours of this
phone call. Discharge will probably occur from Pond MB2R.
- MCC is working to free the Pond MB1 primary discharge structure
of ice. The outlet is currently frozen.
- MCC believes that the mine inflow has slowed to an approximate
rate of 3500 gallons per minute (gpm).
- MCC believes that at about 8:30 this morning, the mine pumps were
operating at about the same rate as the inflow, and that MCC is now
keeping even with the inflow.
- Kathy indicates that the water in the mine is at a location where
the Box Canyon and B East Mains intersect. She indicates that the
water is a few feet from spilling into the NE Tailgate. She states
that they have lost the Box canyon Mains, and the 1SE Headgate.
