BOX 550 <br />ROCKY FORD, COLORADO 81067 <br />(303)254-7464 <br />Re: Annual Report <br />Valco - Canon City East Pit <br />MLRB File No. 77-559 <br />Dear Mr. Schmeiding: <br />Mining at this pit is proceeding according to the technical revision approved by the <br />Board earlier this year. <br />Reference is made to t~II.RB Rules & Regulations, effective July 1978, Sec. 2.40. <br />2.41 (1) There were 12.95 acres disturbed in 1978. Of the 12.95 acres, <br />7.17 acres were mined and a total of 12.95 acres were stripped. <br />This leaves an area of only 5.78 acres stripped ahead of the <br />mining operations. <br />(2) No acres were completely reclaimed. <br />(3) Though no reclamation was required in 1978, an area of 3.52 acres <br />was started into the reclamation process. This area has been rough <br />graded, and the area of the banks has been sloped to 3 to 1 and <br />top soiled. In addition, another area of 2.13 acres has been sloped <br />according to 3:1 requirements of our plan. Part of this 2.13 acre <br />area was mined prior to July 1, 1973. See map attached for all <br />areas discussed. <br />(4) No revegetation during this year. <br />(5) Not applicable. <br />(6) Not applicable. <br />(7) It is expected that approximately 3.0 acres will be affected in the <br />coming year. <br />(8) The Annual Report date is February 22.
