~~~ ~
~s~i
Ms. Janet Binns
February 15, 1996
Page 2
0 TOPSOILING AND REVEGETA
The Pit 1 and haul road auras (approximately 61.2 aces) as shown on the 1995 Reclamation Map (Map I) were
topsoiled Tn addition, pond embankments A, B, C, and D were also topsoiled. Topsoil was placed at an average
death of approximately six inches. The topsoil for pit 1 area came from topsoil stockpile F-1 and the windrow
piles. The topsoil for the light use road and ponds A, B, and D came from topsoil stockpile E-3. Topsoil for the
Bush Draw light use road and Pond C came from they own topsoil stockpiles.
All newly topsoiled areas were drill seeded with acover/mulch crop of Annual Winter Rye (60 lbs./acre). The
permanent seed mixed will be planted in the spring of 1996.
The 720 Pit and overburden areas were drill seeded with the permanent seed mixture outlined on Table 67a in
the permit document. As discussed with, and approved by the DMG, Fleabane Daisy was substituted for Eaton
Fleabane. The perennial seeds were planted directly over the previously established mulch crop. To minimize
disturbance of the cover crop, the area was only lightly disced before seeding.
After planting the perennial seed mixture, Great Basin W ildrye was planted in 20 foot wide strips, 180 feet apart
in the wind prone areas to serve as live wind breaks.
Attached is a copy of the seed tags for the five different seed mixes and a copy of their letters of certification
6.0 DRAINAGE AND SEDIMENT CONTROL
Once regrading was completed, permanent diversions PD-3 and PD-4 were constructed m accordance with the
approved permit application.
To help control erosion until vegetation is established, contour furrows were cons Wcted on all disturbed slopes
in accordance with the approved permit application and the Temporary Stabilization Plan for Pit 1.
No new ponds were constructed during 1995. The disturbance area associated with existing ponds and structure
is approximately 21.9 acres.
7.0 TOPSOIL STOCKPILES
Topsoil stockpile F-1 and the windrowed stockpiles were eliminated and the areas were regraded and revegetated
(1.27 acres). The remaining six topsoil stockpiles as shown on the 1995 Reclamation Map (Map 1) cover
approximately 5.8 acres.
8.0 SURFACE FACILITIES
As shown on the 1995 Reclamation Map (Map 1), there is approximately 13.76 acres of disturbance associated
with the remaining surface facilities.
