..
rla , ..
~~i -~~..
4!y~J Y.
Annual Report - 1986
Dawson Mine, File: M-77-392 APR 1 4 1986
M1NED LANG R ~1.,°1~IATIJA7
1. Location and Number of Acres Affected During the YeaxC010. ~epl. Of Pti32~:tal I~E60UrC3~
Refer to the attached map illustrating the affected areas.
A summary of the affected areas to date is given as follows:
Additional Area Disturbed the Past Year: 0.25 ac.
Approximate Area Disturbed to Date: 9 ac.
2. Location and Number of Acres Reclaimed the Past Year
Most of the disturbed area remains active. No reclamation took
place during the past year.
3. Location and Number of Acres in the Various Stages of Reclamation
Due to a reduction in the demand for brick the past several years,
the rate of mining has been somewhat less than originally
anticipated. The attached map portrays the areas disturbed to
date. The mining plan involves the removal of a knoll, mined in
a southerly direction. Backfilling of overburden is not involved
in this operation because a pit is not created.
4. Location of Species and Vegetation Planted
No revegetation has occurred to date because most of the disturbed
area is used for various purposes (stockpiling, overburden placement,
and mining). However, some natural invasion of grasses has occurred
on the northeast portion of the overburden dump where calcined-clay
overburden was deposited a few years ago.
5. Types and Quantity of Fertilizer Used
Not applicable at the present time.
6. Appraisal of Reclamation Efforts
Not applicable at the present time.
7. Estimate of the Area to be Affected in the Coming Year
For the most part, it is anticipated that operations will be
confined to the existing disturbed area as illustrated on the
attached map.
