<br />INTERNATIONAL URANIUM (USA) CORPORATIO~iECEOVED <br />2001 ANNUAL REPORT JAN 3 0 2002 <br />Topaz Mine - M -1980-055-HR Division of Minerals and Geology <br />The Topaz Mine remains on "standby-ready status". <br />The Topaz Mine was inspected by the Division of Minerals & Geology on December 19, 2001. <br />Two drums of waste oil were noted by the inspector, and a Corrective Action (response date of January <br />25, 2002 specified) to either remove the oil barrels or place them in a contained storage structure was <br />specified. The oil barsels were removed from the Topaz site on January 16, 2002. The barrels, along <br />with waste oil barrels from other nearby mines sites, were transported to the White Mesa Mill, near <br />Blooding, Utah. The barrels will be dumped into the Mill's waste oil storage tank, which is periodically <br />emptied by a commercial waste oil recycling firm. <br />Attached are photographs of the waste oil barrels noted in the December 19, 2001 Inspection <br />Report and photographs of the site after removal of the barrels, <br />Another item noted in the December 19, 2002 inspection was the lack of current permittee <br />identification sign at the Topaz Mine. An identification sign has been placed at the entrance to the mine <br />site; photographs of the old and new identification signs are attached. <br />The December 19, 2001 Inspection Report also noted other items (site maps and permit boundary <br />markers). These items will be addressed in separate correspondence in conjunction with responses to <br />similar items noted for other mines, under permits held by International Uranium (USA) Corporation, <br />adjacent to and near the Topaz Mine. <br />During the reporting period, no disturbance activities were conducted at the Topaz Mine, and no <br />reclamation was conducted. The Topaz Mine will remain on standby status during 2002. <br />
