Just out of curiosity, I took a sample of some
water located in an old abandoned mine pit adjacent to the Twin Pines
site. A cow was laying dead next to the pond. The water had a pR
of about 3 and a specific conductivity of about 3400 umhos/cm. Due to
the low pH, it is possible that the cow could have died as a result
of the injestion of toxic heavy metals in the water. The unreclaimed
mine pit was abandoned previous to the existence of reclamation laws
in Colorado
cc: Dave Holm
Jim Pendleton
Carol Russell
/ys
