The "Mine Bench Final
Contours" diagram was prepared from a survey taken on the bench at the
end of construction and from the proposed final contours shown on Exhibit V
of our mid-term review technical revision. The final contours below
6476' were a result of using less fill when restabilizing the mine bench than
originally planned. On top of the bench, the south end received slightly more
fill than planned and the north end received less fill. The primary cause of
less material on the north end was the inadequate supply of borrow material
in the permitted area.
The "Mine Bench Permanent Diversion" diagram was prepared to show a profile
of the top and bottom of the existing diversion and to show proposed work on
the diversion. The existing diversion has an overall grade of 1.3% but has
several level areas. The proposed grade will be the 2% originally approved.
The channel will be 7' wide at the bottom and have lh:1V side slopes for its
18" depth. Above the diversion, a 3h:1V slope will be cut to the existing ground
level. The approximately 200 cy. excavated will be distributed in low areas
to allow drainage into the diversion or over the face of the bench. A small
dozer er backhoe will be used to acr.omplish this work. Access will require
dry weather, possibly in mid-summer. The approximately 1/3 acre disturbed by
the work will be reseeded in the fall of 1987.
Let me know if there are any further questions concerning our proposed work
on the diversion.
Sincerely,
Larr~. Reschke
Project Engineer
LMR:jp
Lam./
Enclosure
