The shear strength has been estimated principally from
saturated, consolidated, undrained triaxial tests with pore
pressure measurements. For consolidated undrained conditions
on "undisturbed" samples, the following total stress para-
meters are indicated:
Soil Typetotal ctotal~ksf)
Slightly Sandy Clay 21.5° 0.60
In situ densities at natural moisture content are about
125 lb/f t3.
We have reviewed the available data and consider that
these shear strength parameters are reasonable for the expec
foundation materials.
3.2 WASTE ROCK COMPOSITION
The initial waste rock storage area will be used for
storing waste rock from mine development and reject from the
rotary breaker.
The exact composition of the disposal pile will not be
established until mining commences. However, an estimate of
the anticipated ranges of material types can be made based on
the types of waste material associated with the coal, as de-
termined from the exploratory drilling program, and the pro-
posed method of mining.
The following materials will be the principal constitu-
~eoinooo coNw~nerc, iNC.
