~~
The data for the three Middle Sandstone wells (TRH, TR-7a, 81-01) which are
monitored for water quality show no adverse impact or trend. Water quality data are
summarized in Tables 7 through 12. Plots of field conductivity for these Middle
Sandstone Wells are presented in Figure 14. The conductivity measurements
recorded at wells 81-01 and TR-4 returned to values more typical for these locations
after experiencing an unusual shift in 1995. Wells TR-7A and TR-4 indicate slight
reduction in concentrations of major ions over time. All three wells show reduction in
concentrations of iron which shows considerable variation in concentrations. The
general reduction in iron concentrations may be the result of better purging of well
bore volumes prior to sampling plus a switch to dissolved concentration analysis.

The water quality data for the two Twentymile Sandstone Wells, No. 9 Mine Well and
Well 259 show no significant impact or trend. Water quality analyses were not
obtained at well 259 until late in the year due to the depressurization of this well
necessitating modification of the well to allow direct measurement of water levels and
access to water quality samples via a standard bailer. Water quality data for the
Twentymile Sandstone wells are summarized in Tables 13 through 16. Plots of field
conductivity over time are presented in Figure 15. Measurements during 1996
appeared normal.
• In summary, the water quality of all three sandstone aquifers does not indicate any
081044 1996AHR, I.\EMPIREWHR\96AHR\EMPAHR9fiDOC Page 6
