ermittee: WHITEWATER BUILDING MATERIALS CORP. PAGE 2
Permit #: M-77-129
Operation Name: WHITEWATER 500 PIT
Anniversary Date: 09/22/03
(2) Sloping is complete on 6.26 acres t around parts of the lake
in Stage 2 (blue). The green cross hatched areas show where
we have material stored to create slopes in the area along
the east side of the mined area. Only the final grading is
necessary on this area. Sloping is complete on 1470 feet on
the south side of stage B, C, and D (blue). There is ap-
proximately 65,000 cy of overburden stored in Stages 2 -
PART A, B & C that will be used on the alpha stages and in
Stage 2 - PART A as needed (green). These piles are in a
constant state of flux as areas are stripped and resoiled.
The settling pond is still being used to clean process water
(tan). The stockpiles on the lake bottom in Stage 2 - PART
A will be removed or leveled as needed, shown as xx areas on
the map. An access corridor will be constructed from Stage
2 - PART A to Stage 2 - PART B when it is time to move east
of the highway (heavy blue line).
Weed control continued this year on the area around the
active mine and in Phase 1. We sprayed for Knapweed in May
& June 2003. This is an uphill battle since there is little
or no control taking place on properties surrounding the
mine and seed is being wind blown in from offsite areas that
we have no control over. Spraying will continue as needed.
The Federal Government has acquire the Stage 1 area and are
planning changes. When we have their plans for breaching
the river bank we will notify the Division of those plans.
(3) Mining will continue in the northeast part to Stage 2 - PART
A this year. In Stage E the mine face will move to the
east. If more area is needed, we will resume stripping in
the northeast side of Stage 2 - PART B and in Stage E. The
operator will continue to stockpile growth medium along the
perimeters of the mined area so when sloping is done it can
be respread.
(4) Weed control will continue next year as needed. Bank slop-
ing and grading will continue in Stage 2, on the shore line
that will not be disturbed in the future. The material to
complete the sloping is in place (green cross hatch), so
only shaping is needed to complete them.
(5) The current contact for this pit is:
Mr. Mark Gardner (970) 242-7538
Whitewater Building Materials Corp.
