Peter Mattheis
New Castle Energy Corporation
7625 East Napa Place
Denver, CO 80237
Re: Coal Ridge Mine (File C-84-065), 1989 Annual Hydrologic Report
Dear Mr. Mattheis:
The Division has received and reviewed the Annual Hydrologic Report for the
Coal Ridge operation. No hydrologic impacts were noted in the data provided,
however the sampling was not complete for all wells. Notice of Violation
C-89-020 was issued in August, 1989 for failure to monitor around water in a
manner specified by the Division, and is considered to account for the 1989
sampling discrepancies. In the future you are urged to inform the Division
immediately of any difficulties with the approved sampling schedule, in order
to avoid additional enforcement actions.
In a recent conversation with Mike Galloway of Adrian Brown
was decided that the upcoming permit revision will address
the monitoring program at Coal Ridge. A description of the
development of the monitoring plan will be provided. Also
be a table of existing ground water wells, their completion
descriptions of their present condition. It is anticipated
which has been damaged by wildlife or grazing animals, will
redrilled. Hopefully an inspection of the wells (with Mr.
performed following the spring snowmelt.
Sincerely,
4Jilliam B.
