explained in two ways: first, other zones also probat~ly below the coal
<br />seam may be contributing water; or second, the quality of the water
<br />changes as it moves through the fault or across the mine workings.
<br />Prior explanations for the source of water coming from the fault included
<br />postulating a local overlying sandstone was being dewatered. With the
<br />inflows measured during 1984 it would appear that this explanation needs
<br />to be modified to acknowledge the new data. As stated above, it appears
<br />the source of water is from aquifer(s) below the coal s~aam. If it is the
<br />Trout Creek Sandstone, monitoring of water levels in the No. 5 14ine water
<br />well should provide useful data along this line. Therefore, Empire will
<br />obtain quarterly water lev~ measurements from this well. yes .
<br />In the 1983 survey the 2 West, 1 Left Panel produced a measured flow of 30
<br />gpm. In 1984 approximately 140 gpm was measured at i:he same loc ation.
