Mr. G. Becenti,
October 7, 2005
The 2005 data, supported by results from 2004, indicate that the completed reclamation activities are clearly
contributing to the achievement of the water quality goals set for Windy Gulch. The water quality has clearly
improved over the pre-reclamation levels and now meets, with the exception of the peak runoff period, the
agricultural standard goals established in the August 23, 2002 monitoring plan. As per that plan, sampling was
to be conducted through 2005. Neverthe-ess, due to no flow conditions in 2003, we are planning to conduct an
additional year of monitoring and sampling in Spring 2006 to provide additional assurance that conditions in
Windy Gulch are stabilized to the extent required to meet the established goals. We will furnish an annual
report after that time to document observations through Spring 2006. If you have any questions, please contact
me in our Grants office or via cell phone at (505) 400-2794.
Sincerely yours,
~~
H OMESTAKE MINING COMPANY
Alan D.
