2.5.3 FA003
FA003 is comprised of 5.50 acres of moderately sloping revegetation/native that has a
predominately southeasterly aspect This unit was accidentally burned in the summer of 2002 and
seeded during the fall of 2002, and therefore, has undergone one growing seasons prior to sampling in
2003. A total of 32 plant taxa were observed in the unit (see Table 19).
Seedling emergence data (Tables 16 and 58) from 15 quadrats in FA003 revealed an average of
lperennial seedling per square foot. An average density of 0.60 was attributed to perennial grasses
while 0.27 seedlings per square foot were from perennial forts and 0.13 seedlings were attributed to
shrubs. Annual species, espedally cheatgrass and Russian thistle, contributed an average of 1.80
seedlings per square foot. Woody plant density was determined from the 15 quadrats and totaled 5,663
shrub seedlings per acre (Table 17) with rubber rabbitbrush the dominant woody plant.
Take by seeded grass speces is fair in most places and the burned Gambel oak and serviceberry are
resprouting well. There are no appreciable noxious weeds in the area. Because of scattered patches of
cheatgrass throughout the unit, spot use of the herbicide Oust or Plateau for control is recommended.
•
It
xen~eoon Fey co. i Cdowyo xrure Page 66 Revegetatbn MonnoA~ -2003
