2004 Annua/ Rec/amation Report
Southfield Mine
March 14, 2005
Page 4
understanding that this limited work would not affect the current liability schedule (10-year
period initiated by secondary seeding in 1999).
EFCI has revegetated a cumulative total of approximately 82.1 acres at the Mine Site and
Loadout ares as shown on the attached Annual Reclamation Report form. Maps accompanying
this report show all revegetated areas, with the exception of approximately 1,5 acres of minor
road segments revegetated in 2003 at the North Well and Corley Well areas.
The previously revegetated areas are shown on Map 1, Mine Site Reclamation, Map 2,
Ancillary Facility Areas Reclamation, and Map 3, Loadout Area Reclamation.
ntrol Activities
The minor occurrence of whitetop near the reclaimed substation #1 area persisted after being
sprayed in 2003. The other location of whitetop immediately west of this area was sprayed in
2003 and was no longer occurring during the 2004 growing season. EFCI again sprayed the
above mentioned whitetop plants with 2-4-D, consistent with the approved weed control plan and
County weed control guidelines. EFCI will continue to inspect these areas and will implement
any necessary weed control measures consistent with management plans in the approved permit.
Conclusions
EFCI is accomplishing reclamation and maintenance of the Southfield Mine in compliance with
the approved permit application. The current and previous reclamation activities are effectively
promoting the site to achieve its approved postmining land use capabilities.
