iii iiiiiiiiiiiu iii
999
STATE OF COLORADO
•
Roy Romer, Governor
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
DAVID C. SHELTON, Dlreetor
MEMORANDUM
ry 1987
•
•
T0: 5usan Mowry \/ C_~`~ j,
FROM: Jim Pendleton ~ `~"'`~
RE: Quarterly Monyt ring o Blue Ribbon Mine Bench Stability
I have reviewed the stability monument, piezometer water level and subdrain
flow monitoring results submitted by Blue Ribbon for the 4th quarter of 1986.
My only concern relates to the rise in the water level recorded in piezometer
P-1, between 9/4/86 and 10/3/86. I am concerned that this rise may be related
to the ponding of drainage occurring on top of the mine bench, which resulted
from the operator's poor reclamation grading job, last fall. Another couple
of quarters monitoring results should allow us to determine whether a problem
is developing. In any case, there is nothing they could attempt to mitigate a
problem until after next spring's thaw.
cc: Bob Liddle
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203-2273 Tel.
