iii iiuiiiiiiiu iii
March 24, 1993
TO: File
FM: Shawn Smith
Re: 1992 Reenesburq Annual Hydrology Report Review
Reenesburq Mine (C-B1-028)
Dear File:
I have completed the review for the annual hydrology report 1992
from the Keenesburg Mine. The following documents were utilized in
the review:
Findings 3/92
Permit sections on ground and surface water
Probable Hydrologic Consequences
1990 Annual Hydrology Report
1991 Annual Hydrology Report
Below are mentioned my comments.
1. The operator has complied with Rule 4.05.13 and Stipulation
No.s 5, 17, 24 and 25. Stipulation 5 requires the submittal
of an annual hydrology report.
a. All well parameters have been analyzed and quarterly
monitored as per the permit commitment. Wells FPW, DH96,
DH122, AMW-1 and 2 and SMW 2 have been monitored on
a quarterly basis.
b. Water use at the mine has also been included as required
in the AHR.
c. The bailing procedure is at this time undergoing an
experimental trial-and-error process in which two methods
are being contrasted. Method A has been the method used
in the past at the mine and uses the fifth, sixth and
seventh bailer content of water to test the sample
parameters. Method B is complete purging of the well
before the sampling takes place. Trends noted using
Method B are a more sensitivity to alkalinity, TDS,
sulfate, sodium and calcium levels. Both methods will be
continued through 1993 to increase the data base before
determination on the method to be permanently used.
d. Well AMW-2 is believed to be pluaaed off and will underoo
that this well is completed in the wrono monitoring zone.
If this is the case, this situation will be rectified.
