Unless someone has a major conflict the date of this meeting will be January 18,
1994, 9:00 am, Room 323.
Upon further discussion with Marcus the plan is to discuss plans fo:r the Waste pile in the
morning. Issues here aze:
1) Plans to provide a demonstration that less that 4 feet cover will be able to
achieve the requirements of Rules 4.10.4(5) and 4.15.
2) Additionally, CEC wants to look into revising portal 9 waste pile plans to
allow for above grade fill of pile. Current permit only allows use of Portal 9 waste
area up to original grade.
3) CEC wants to assure that providing a variance demonstration does not put
them in opposition of Rule 4.13 Contemporaneous Reclamation.
Dan, you'll probably only want to be a part of the discussion involved with setting up the
demonstration. I do not know if they have plans to do a series o1' different plots akin to
Roadside, only that are proposing a gradient of maybe 2-4 ft. cover. We can discuss this
topic first so you won't need to sit through the entire meeting.
Also at this meeting CEC wants to find out in advance what sampling, and baseline data
they will need to gather for the mine plan expansion PR that they hope to submit in May.
By sitting down with us in January they hope to be able to collect sill items this Spring, i.e.
Spring and Seep Survey, Wildlife Surveys, prior to PR submittal. So Barb, you may want
to wait until we get to this stage of the meeting before you need to attend to address water
issues.
