The vertical extent of <br />:he sand and gravel deposit in the river bottom is unknown, <br />out according to a report dated January 23, 1981, by <br />Simons, Li & Associates of cort Collins, the Animas River <br />has been agyrading over a long period of time, and based on <br />local reporr, the depth of piling driven at the Trimble <br />Lane Bridge indicate the deposits at that location exceed <br />100 feet. The Animas River annually deposits sand and <br />gravel sediment within the limits of this Application and <br />since 1982, Sandco, Inc. has annually extracted <br />approximately 50,000 tons of sediment under Limited Impact <br />Pet'mit numbers P1-79-016 and 6t- 80-130, both of which are <br />located o,ithin the boundaries of this Application.
