Domtar Gypsum Inc. DOM R
~~
February 19, 1988
Coaldale, Colorado
Ms. Camille M. Farrell
Reclamation Specialist
Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division
433 Centennial Building
1313 Sherman greet
Denver, Colorado 80203-2273
Dear Camille,
~~~ ~~~~
FEB 2219~a
~EC~p,MA D~ Oo 1S1ON.
Please find attached the narrative covering our 1987 reclamation
field season at the Coaldale Quarry, a map pertaining tn_same, and
a check for $350.00 to cover annual report filing.
Our 1987 reclamation efforts centered in the Gillespie Hill area,
including the planting of 400 potted stock native tree seedlings,
320 baro root shrub species, and 725 tubling type native shrub and
forb species. App. 30011 of native seed mixture was broadcast per
the attached report.
1988 efforts will continue in this same area, with tree seedling and
bare root planting scheduled for April of this year with follow-up
live shrub tubling plantings scheduled for Sune, We look forward to
experimental planting of a series of dormant tubling stock slated for
planting in April of 1989, for which we have already contracted with
Pleasant Ave. Nursery of Buena Vista, Colorado. I feel that early
year plantings will give us better survival rates and help us deal
with the severe extremes of climate we must contend with here in
Coaldale. Particular efforts are being made to establish a parent
colony of Antelope bitterbrush, Purshia tridentata, per your rec-
ommendation. I am in full agreement that this is an important wild-
life habita' species that should be nurtured in this part of Colorado.
Should you have any questions regarding the annual report or anything
else in regards to Domtar's mining or reclamation plans, do not hesitate
to call or write. By the way, our area code is changing in this part of
the state as of 3-5-88. Our number(s) here in Coaldale are (719}942-4200
or (719) 942-4164.
Very Truly Yours,
%~' ~' ~~
/ ^~
Q y '. v}
V \
Kenneth S.
