Dept. of Natural Resources
Re: Notice of Intent to Continue
Delta Sand & Gravel Co.
Pit #3
Dear Mr. Massey:
Permit No. 77-22, Limited Impact
Mining in Stage 1 of the mining plan was carried out as scheduled.
Approximately six acres were affected. Also, according to plan the
river, running very high in its spring run-off, has refilled the
excavated area with rock material.
Excavation for the coming year will cover the same acreage that was
mined last year.
No reclamation is called for until after the first run-off following
the last mining season in Stages 1 and 2. Stage 1 will be mined
again and again, and the river will replenish the rock supply each
spring. Therefore, it is impossible to estimate when the last mining
season will occur.
The high, rampant river this year removed the low dike separating
the pond on the north-west side of the area from the affected land.
It is not expected that our operation shall be affected in any way
by this washout.
Our annual fee of $50.00 is attached. Please sign below to indicate
your receipt of both this Notice of Intent to Continue and the check.
Since/r/ely ~`
JRS:cm ~ Jack R.
