Dept, of Natural Resources
Mr, Robert Liddle
Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division
423 Centennial Building
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, CO 80202
Re: 1983 Annual Hydrology and Subsidence Report
Dear Bob:
Attached is Colorado Westmoreland Inc.'s (CWI) 1983 annual hydrology
and subsidence report in compliance with stipulation nos. 2, 3, and 4
attached to the Orchard Valley Mine Plan, Permit #C-038-83. All data
obtained this past year, including maps, tables, cross-sections, and lab
reports, have been included and discussed in this report.
The 1983 hydrology monitoring program was designed to generate data for
the future long-term lease area as well as the present permit area. The
Division had previously reviewed and made comment on this program of moni-
toring representative water resources from each drainage within and adjacent
to the present and future long-term lease areas. Many monitoring difficul-
ties experienced in the past have been overcome and CWI is looking forward
to a more successful monitoring program in 1984,
Inasmuch as the annual subsidence report deals in part with the effects
of subsidence on water resources, it is included with this annual hydrology
report. It should be noted that in addition to monitoring the former 8E-5N
Panel grid and drill hole #58, the Division has approved a wing added to
thatgrid, tko new grids constructed over panels near the abandoned Farmer's
Mine, and the future monitoring of drill hole #70 rather than drill hole
#58,
59510 i~AY OF
WF9TMOAELnN~
3~s 4'c^. ~',. .~.. ._.. -~',a~2: -i+.::.:Ms1~:'ers'.f.. ne'.. ...
