Dept. of Natural Resource;
A combination of events happened to us during 1980 that has caused a delay
in our reclamation plan and an acceleration in our mining plan.
As you know from our last annual report and correspondence since then, we
have been in negotiation with the Lamar Utilities Board to purchase Parts
1 and 2 of Stage 0. We had anticipated these negotiations would have
been concluded and the sale consumated by mid 1980. However, they took
an unforeseen turn and continued until fall of 1980, at which time t:he
Utilities Board decided not to squire this property. This delayed t.1e
start of our reclamatione. However, we did begin reclamations in 19:10
with backfilling, sloping, and grading of some areas, including an area
that we are not required to reclaim. (See Map)
The event that caused us to accelerate our mining plan was the const~:vetion
of the new Neoplan USA Bus Plant. This required almost 80,000 tons ~rf
sand and gravel to be used as fill material. It was excavated and h~su d
scrappers. This material all came from Stage Z, Part 1 of Stages III
~Iv), anc'l~V~ which is east of the railroad tracks (See Map). This accel-
eration of the mining plan was handled with a technical revision, which
was granted, and of which you are aware.
Therefore, the following annual report is made in reference to MLRB Rules
and Regulations effective July 1978, Sec. 2.40.
1) In 1980 there were approxime.tely 2.29 acres mined in Part 1,
~tage-D~ad,approximately~8.75:~mined in Stage Z and Part,I of
tags 3-4-5•) ~,
ROCKY FORD PUEBLO CANON CITY
