All responses have been accepted
by the Division unless otherwise stated below.
1. The Division is required to ensure that the hydrologic
monitoring program is at all times appropriate and provides
data which allows us to accurately assess whether or not
impacts are occurring or developing due to mining. Successful
completion of this task requires that the monitoring be
conducted at all times as specified in the approved monitoring
program. Your continued cooperation toward this effort is
appreciated.
2. In addition to field verification that wells and monitoring
stations are kept in working and functional order, we need
some assurance that when wells or stations are originally
established that they are, to the best of our ability to
determine, representative of the conditions and properties for
which they were designed to monitor. This is the reason that
we ask for the completion information for each monitoring well
to be provided to the Division after completion. Water well
information does not meet the requirements for
confidentiality, and furthermore, the Division is allowed to
see all information, even confidential information. It is
only the public who is precluded from access to confidential
information.
The Division's interest in the completion information is
simply to have available specific information such as total
well depth, casing diameter, top of casing elevation,
