EFMC has reviewed its monitoring records for both the Iuppa and Refuse Wells for
the 1997 monitoring period. No additional monitoring data is available for the wells. Data for
the months omitted from the water quality tables shown in the AHR are either missing or was
not collected.
During some of emitted months, EFMC believes that no site visit was made, or that
no data was collected during site visits. This situation was discussed in-house and monthly
data collection was reestablished by the last quarter of the monitoring period. This monitoring
effort has persisted from then to now, as evidenced in the mine records.
2. EFMC has monitored the discharge quality on at least a monthly basis, if a discharge
is occurring, beginning in 1997 in accordance with the Wastewater Discharge Permit. A copy
of the page with monitoring requirements for Post-Mining Outfalls is attached for reference.
The permanent diversion has been monitored generally during peak flow events, and
flow events seldom occur. EFMC plans to revise the permit to specify no more than quarterly
monitoring of the permanent diversion.
