• Table 64 provides a summary of the 2001 Water Year data collected from site 109. Table 64a provides a period
of record statistical summary of collected data at the site. Table 646 presents mine discharge volumes through
site 109 for the 2001 Water Yeaz. Figure 125 provides a graphical representation of period of record field
conductivity for mine water discharged at site 109.
Dewatering of the Southwest Mini a District through site 115, suspended in February 1996, was resumed in
August of 1998. The 2001 Water Year data for mine water discharge site 115 is presented on Table 65. Table
65a provides the period of record statistical summary. Table 65c presents water pumping records at site 115 for
the 2001 Water Year. At site 109, a new maximum value was recorded for field pH. At site 115 a new maximum
was recorded for lab pH.
3.7 CDPS Discharge Sites
Under State of Colorndo Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), Colorado Discharge Permit
System (CDPS) permit No.'s CO-0027154, CO-0036684, and CO-0042161, numerous discharge points at TCC
operations are monitored throughout the year. Note that CDPS was referred to as the National Pollutant
Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) in previous AHRs. Monitoring results are copied to DMG on a periodic
basis in accordance with CDPS requirements. Tables 66 through 71 provide 2001 and historical data summaries
for those CDPS outfall points, other than mine dewatering site 115, which discharged during the year. The reader
is referred to the CDPHE Colorado Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMRs) submitted monthly during the year
• for additional information regarding specific discharge occurrences. Figures 128 through 131 provide graphical
representations of the 2001 flow rate and field conductivity data for Pond D at the Foidel Creek Mine and for
Pond E at the Fish Creek Tipple. Figure 132 depicts period of record total recoverable iron data for Pond E.
3.8 2001 Inflow Survev
The annual inflow survey was performed during early October 2001 (prior to freezing conditions). Water
elevations were monitored from the Fish Creek Borehole during the period of October 2000 to September 2001.
During the inflow study, flow rates and field parameters are recorded for measurable inflows from the accessible
azeas of the underground mine. Results of the 2001 survey are presented on Figure 134, 2001 Inflow Study
Mined Area. Longwall mining was completed m the EMD by early-January 2001. Production from the NMD, 12
Rt Longwall Panel, was underway by late January 2001. The EMD was permanently sealed in October 2001
removing all access to the 6 Rt and 7 Rt gate roads. The 12 Rt Longwall was completed in early September 2001
and the 13 Rt Longwall was underway by late September 2001. About 6,200 feet of the 14 Rt gate road was
developed by late October 2001 with a small portion of the Northwest Mains extending pass the neck off for the
14 Rt gate road.
During 2001, inflows continued in the Northeast Submains, although there appears to be a decrease in ceiling
dripping. The reported high flow value was approximately 15 - 20 gallons per minute, somewhat less than
• reported in 2000. The results are presented on Table 76 and also shown on Figure 134. The field conductivity
for the water was measured at 1538 umhos/em, which is consistent with the 2000 measurement. Flows have
13
