-6- <br />No detectable water quality change is noted with time for water <br />from the Twentymile Sandstone (Tables 10 and 11). The water is <br />predominantly Ca - HC03 in chemical type with a mean TDS <br />concentration of 371 mg/L over the period of record (Table 10). <br />hen pH is 7.76 with a range from 1.0 to 8.41 (Table 10). Minor <br />constituents and trace elements are all low and within acceptable <br />limits for most uses. <br />1.2.4 White Sandstone <br />Three wells completed in the White Sandstone (Wells 81-03a, 81-04a, <br />81-19) were sampled for water quality parameters during 1983. A <br />summary of 14 field parameter samples collected during 1983 is <br />given in Table 5. A summary of the 1983 full suite analyses is <br />presented in Table 13 and a cumulative summary of water quality <br />data is presented in Table 12. <br />Again, little change in water quality over time is noted for the <br />White Sandstone (Tables 12 and 13). The water is Na-HC03 in <br />prevalent chemical type with a mean TDS concentration of 859 mg/L <br />and range from 265 to 1260 mg/L for the period of record from 9/81 <br />to 6/83 (Table 12). The pH of water from this unit is somewhat <br />higher than other ground water sources with a mean value of 9.05 <br />and a range from 8.13 to 11.09 (Table 12). Several trace elements <br />(aluminum, boron, fluoride) are somewhat higher than other bedrock <br />ground water sources. <br />1.2.5 Williams Fork Alluvium <br />Monitoring occurred at six wells completed in the Williams Fork <br />alluvium within the permit area. In September of 1983, monitoring <br />was reduced to three of these wells (Wells AVF-3, AVF-5 and <br />AVF-6). Monitoring of these wells for field parameters occurred <br />monthly and full site water quality analyses were performed <br />quarterly. A summary of the 1983 field parameters from the <br />Williams Fork alluvial wells is shown in Table 19. A summary of <br />the 1983 full suite water quality analyses is presented in Table 21 <br />and a cumulative summary of water quality data since 6/81 is <br />presented in Table 20. <br />No significant changes in overall water quality are detectable over <br />the period of record for water from the Williams Fork alluvium <br />(Tables 20 and 21). Water from the Williams Fork alluvium is of <br />poorer quality than that from bedrock sources in the mine area. <br />Mean TDS concentration of Williams Fork alluvial wells is 1042 mg/L <br />with a range from 605 to 1890 mg/L (Table 20).
